Specific initiatives that FreshSource has taken on behalf of its clients include expanding product categories, doubling its data capabilities, and streamlining its merchandising platforms. The biggest push is a renewed focus on showing its producer and grower clients how to offer their retailers value-added sales and merchandising support plans. To be able to offer their retailers such support along with their commodities gives growers and producers a real competitive edge.
To effectively underpin the merchandising support effort, FreshSource has substantially built out its field teams in this area, including the addition of former produce managers who can bring their invaluable experience to the training of new merchandising team members.
